In this seminar, participants will gain an appreciation of the contribution of kindling in the brain to the aetiology and perpetuating factors of chronic disease, inflammation, and pain. A thorough understanding of the role of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and it’s relationship with major stress systems will be presented. Participants will learn about the relationship between stress and trauma on the impact immune system. We will explore the causes and subsequent diseases that develop as a result of chronic inflammation such as arthritis, IBS, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, chronic bronchitis, asthma, autoimmune diseases, depression, bipolar, and chronic pain. Appropriate and effective treatment paradigms that reduce inflammation and quench chronic stress pathways are discussed.
